ARE YOU A PROPERTY OWNER OR MANAGER?

NYC Local Law 84 requires that all buildings in the five boroughs with more than 50,000 square feet of floor space collect and report their energy (gas, electric, steam, oil) and water consumption every year. That information is then uploaded into the Energy Star Portfolio Manager and a score of 1 to 100 is returned. The higher the score, the more efficient the building. The reason behind the law is that building owners can’t manage (or reduce) what they don’t measure.

Owners and property managers may be surprised at how low their buildings score, even newer buildings. A score of 40 means that your building is more efficient than 40% of similar buildings located throughout the country. A score of 75 or above qualifies your building for an Energy Star rating.

Window film can help improve your Energy Star Portfolio Manager score and put your building one step closer to Energy Star certification.

The U.S. Department of Energy and a recent study published by CONSOL Energy show Window Films can reduce energy usage up to 19 kwh per sq ft of windows. That adds up to a lot of savings on a building’s energy bill. With typical ROI’s of less than three years, building owners and managers all over North America have discovered the cost savings associated with Window Films. In fact, with utility rebates through Con Edison, authorized Window Film dealers have completed projects with payback as short as one year.

What’s more, New York lawmakers have turned up the heat on commercial building owners and managers. Recent law changes in New York now require buildings to reduce their energy consumption and audited non-compliant buildings will be forced to pay fines. Finding cost-effective energy saving technologies like Window Films is now imperative to maintaining their bottom line. Window Films can help increase your ENERGY STAR® Porfolio Manager™ score, assist your building in obtaining ENERGY STAR® certification, and save you money in the process.
